Background
In early 2007, Ausgold entered into a collaborative research project with the Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET) at the University of Western Australia. Under this agreement, Ausgold funded a significant study into gold prospectivity across Australia.
Using a minerals system methodology similar to the model attributed for recent oil and gas discoveries by the petroleum industry, the Ausgold/CET research systematically assessed all of Australia’s existing and emerging gold provinces. Ausgold subsequently identified numerous exploration targets in underexplored and newly discovered gold regions, which resulted in the company’s current portfolio of projects.
